artist statement
I'm Ellen Zhang, a student artist working mostly in watercolor, ink, and graphite. My work starts with looking closely — at water in a glass jar, at the folds of a tennis bag, at hands doing ordinary things — and trying to hold onto what makes those small moments worth staring at.
Right now I'm building my AP Art & Design portfolio, which means asking bigger questions of the quiet subjects I keep returning to. This site is where the work collects while that happens.
